FAQ

  • How do I care for my pottery?
My glazed ceramic pottery can be either hand washed or put in the dishwasher. Please visit the Ceramic Care page for more information.
  • Is the pottery dishwasher and microwave safe? Food and drink safe?
Yes, all of my handmade pieces are dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and food and drink safe!
  • Where is the pottery made?
All pottery is made by hand in Orinda, a small town nestled in the hills of the East Bay Area outside of San Francisco, California.
  • What type of clay, glaze, and kiln do you use?"
I use several clay bodies that I purchase from a local clay distributor. One is an off-white clay, one is a dark bodied clay, and one is a buff colored clay. I fire all work in my Cress electric kiln, to Cone 6, which is about 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. I make my own glazes. To see my adventures in glaze making, follow me on Instagram @kecpotter.
  • Can I visit your studio and pick out a piece to buy in person?
I’d love to meet you if you are in the San Francisco area. Please reach out and we can arrange a studio visit.
  • Do you teach pottery classes?
No, but I really encourage you to find a community studio in your area and take a class. It is a wonderful way to create, and the clay community is warm and welcoming.
  • Can we work together on a special project?
Absolutely. Please fill out the contact form with details of your inquiry and I will be sure to get back to you as soon as I can.
  • Do you offer gift certificates?

  • Do you offer wedding registries?
That would be really fun! I can work with you on this — please fill out the contact form with details of your inquiry and I will be sure to get back to you as soon as I can.
